Bringing Together The Pieces To Support Innovation Tags: advanced manufacturing, business, collaboration, InnovationJune 6, 2012 RICCentre By: Saadia Muzaffar As Peel region’s hub for bringing together like-minded people to promote innovation, the RIC Centre is dedicated to help bridge the gap between emerging and established businesses through collaboration efforts. The Innovate Forward program is a result of this dedication. Recently, a RIC partner for the Innovate Forward program – the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) – joined forces with the Textiles Human Resources Council (THRC) to create The Canadian Manufacturing Network. This new collaboration represents the most comprehensive reservoir of industry knowledge and subject-matter-expertise available in Canada today. Their common goals are to strengthen the sector and help advance their businesses globally by connecting manufacturers through knowledge sharing, expertise and learning resources. It also involves the launch of a jobs resource network and an online learning portal. Collaboration is essential for advanced manufacturers looking to innovate. This is best demonstrated by Christie Digital, recognized as one of the most innovative visual technology companies in the world. Christie Digital is famous for its ability to successfully advance innovation with like-minded partners and collaborators. “I think the greatest value of working with like minded people is the collaboration or working together to bring everyone’s strengths together for a common goal,” says John Domm, Research & Development Optics Manager at the Christie Digital engineering and manufacturing headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario. From retail displays to Hollywood, mission critical command centers to classrooms and training simulators, Christie display solutions and projectors capture the attention of audiences around the world with dynamic and stunning images. “As a technology integrator, bringing together technology pieces from outside vendors brings value to us as we can apply other people’s ideas to our specific application.” Hear Domm speak at Innovate>Forward’s June 19th session from 7:30 – 10:00 AM at the Davis Campus of Sheridan College. Find out how and where to find collaborators, put together a list of “go to” supporters, connect up with the right partners.
