GreenCentre is available to assist Ontario-based SMEs and entrepreneurs in scaling up their chemistry and materials-based innovations.

KINGSTON, ONT. (April 27, 2015) — GreenCentre Canada is pleased to continue to offer services in support of small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs in Ontario looking to develop, de-risk, and scale up chemistry and materials-based innovations.

“GreenCentre is delighted to be a part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs,” GreenCentre Interim Executive Director Lyle Clarke said. “As a Sector Innovation Centre within the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs, we work with our partners to help Ontario entrepreneurs succeed here at home, to contribute to Ontario’s prosperity, and to promote a cleaner and healthier planet.”

New ventures focused on developing chemical technologies are vulnerable to failure due to a lack of resources. Without access to industry networks, capital, market data, and appropriate lab facilities and equipment, there is a risk valuable innovations will never fulfill their potential to reach the marketplace and improve an industry’s environmental performance or economic efficiency.

“As a member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs, GreenCentre helps chemistry-focused entrepreneurs drive their innovations from the lab to the marketplace,” Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation Reza Moridi said. “Helping Ontario-based companies scale up to meet global demand is part of our plan to build an innovative economy.”

Green Centre Canada is available to provide development support to SMEs and entrepreneurs currently registered to do business in Ontario or intending to relocate or register to develop operations in Ontario. Applicants can be an SME, entrepreneur or researcher currently conducting research at an academic institution in Ontario and must meet financial-need requirements (based on the applicant’s annual revenue and ability to otherwise pay for services offered in the program).

GreenCentre will assess each applicant based on:

  • Technology strength and potential disruptiveness;
  • Current management team;
  • Potential benefits to Ontario, such as job creation potential and leveraged investment potential;
  • Potential impact of GreenCentre’s contributions;
  • Potential market opportunity; and
  • Commercial viability of intellectual property position.

Clients will be assessed as received, however resources are limited. Contact Cher Powers at GreenCentre for a copy of the application and with any questions related to the services available at cher.powers@greencentrecanada.com.
