The Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation has an upcoming training program, called Start@SIVC, for social entrepreneurs under the Ontario Social Impact Voucher Program. Successful applicants will receive a $3,000 training voucher that will allow them to participate in the program for free.
They are offering two versions of the Start@SIVC program (http://www.sivclaurier.ca/startsivc/)
•The Waterloo-based program is targeted for female social entrepreneurs who have launched, or are ready to launch, a social enterprise and runs from January through May.
•The Brantford-based program is geared to individuals with no previous business training and little, or no, post-secondary experience and runs from February through June.
Start@SIVC is organized into 3 weekend sessions (Saturday/Sunday with meals provided) and online modules that participants can complete on their own time. It will cover business fundamentals like legal and financial business models, marketing strategies and sourcing funding, plus more advanced topics such as strategic growth through partnerships and alliances and social media-based marketing.
