Foundational knowledge needed to assess the cybersecurity risks for your SMB and how to mitigate these risks.
This half day workshop with Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst (Ryerson University), Brampton Board of Trade, Brampton Entrepreneur Centre, and RIC Centre will provide fundamental knowledge needed to assess the cybersecurity risks facing your business and provide information and tools to build a cybersecurity program that will help mitigate those risks. This will include a discussion of cyber threats and cyber risk management, cybersecurity best practices, leveraging third parties to support your program, building your cybersecurity program and incident management.
This workshop is intended to help shift your perceptions about cybersecurity from being ‘technical issue’ to that of a critical enabler for your business in the digital economy. Moreover, through activities and interactive discussions, you will gain insights and actionable takeaways that you can immediately use to build upon your cybersecurity program.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Discover why SMB’s are a target and why their data and operations are valuable to attackers
- Identify business risks as it relates cybersecurity – including operational, financial, reputational, and legal
- Characterize common threats to your business and some simple actions to address them
- Validate the need for an incident response and business continuity plan for your business
