RFEI – Mississauga Library in its digital transformation. September 20, 2019 The City of Mississauga is issuing a Request for Expression of Interest (RFEI). We are seeking corporate sponsors to assist in delivering technology services to the community. Companies and individuals are invited to express their interest in contributing leading edge technology to help transform and improve library programs and services. The RFEI is open to companies and individuals interested in sponsorship opportunities for state-of-the-art IT hardware, software and/or expertise that will enable the Library to expand its operations, programs and services. The RFEI is aligned with the City’s Future Directions – 2019 Library Master Plan and the SMRTCTY Master Plan, The Library is working to improve its service and operations to meet the changing needs of its customers. With increased demands for technology and the growing gap in public access to technology, especially among our youth, the Library is working to enhance its role in promoting digital equity. “We welcome ideas and contributions from those that share our passion for creating equal access to technology,” said Lori Kelly, Director, Library. “We would like to, for example, extend our Maker Mississauga program to more locations so that more people can use library equipment such as 3D printers, building kits, robotics, sewing machines, filmmaking tools and computers to help develop STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) skills. We invite corporations and individuals who share an interest in promoting technology and in delivering digital services to the community to respond to the RFEI.” The Request for Expression of Interest is open until 3 p.m. on October 31, 2019. “Through the SMRTCTY Master Plan we are creating a Smart City for everybody,” said Shawn Slack, Director, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. “By expanding our use of technology across all library locations, we can help create equal access to digital tools and enhance the quality of life in Mississauga.” An Information Session will take place on September 27 at 10 a.m. in the Council Chamber, 2nd Floor, 300 City Centre Dr. The session will also be live streamed and available on our website.
